In a recent feature by The Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada (AMC), Spindustry CEO Michael Bird shared insights on the unique challenges faced by manufacturers when transitioning to digital platforms. Bird emphasized the complexity of managing thousands of parts and transactions, underscoring the need for a data-focused approach rather than a simple e-commerce setup.

Spindustry, founded by Bird in 1996 as a web development agency, has evolved to help manufacturers streamline their operations, manage intricate inventories, and build robust e-commerce solutions. The company’s pivotal role was highlighted at the 2022 Supply Summit & Showcase hosted by the Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association (FEMA), where Spindustry presented a detailed survey of American farmers. This survey, conducted with over 700 participants, identified top purchasing priorities and has guided manufacturers in refining their equipment procurement strategies.

Bird's emphasis on leveraging data to drive innovation and efficiency resonated with many industry professionals. As part of their ongoing commitment, Spindustry has released an updated survey in 2024, featuring data from 300 additional farmers. (Click here to watch the webinar presenting that new data.)

With a mission to elevate manufacturers to modern standards through the integration of new technologies like AI, Bird advocates for a balanced approach to digital transformation. His guidance stresses the importance of digital strategy and gradual implementation, ensuring manufacturers can benefit from these advancements without compromising their business operations.
